Nespresso Vertuo Delonghi vs Breville Nespresso Vertuoline is a challenging debate between the 2 most compact, affordable, and efficient designs. These coffee makers heat up faster and brew more consistently than any product of this price range that I have tested.

For the winner, I go with Delonghi Nespresso Vertuo. This machine controls the temperature well and it features an impressive 54oz water tank. Along with the auto shut-off function, I believe this model is ideal for any beginners who enjoy pulling quality espresso shots in an easy way.

Breville Nespresso Vertuoline boasts of quicker heat-up time, which is 15s, and the same conveniences like auto shut-off and descaling alert as the Delonghi. It only shorts on water tank capacity and sometimes you need to preheat the cup for more quality espresso flavor.

Nespresso Vertuo Delonghi Vs Breville Nespresso Vertuoline: Differences

The debate between Vertuo Delonghi vs Breville Nespresso Vertuoline ends with a 3-1 score and the victory goes to the former. The machine works more consistently when it comes to espresso extraction and it also features a bigger water tank. There won´t be any dripping problem with this one either.

Flow Stop Feature

Winner: De’Longhi Nespresso Vertuo

The Delonghi model is the only one between the two that features a flow-stop system that prevents the coffee from leaking out of the tap after the engine has turned off, which I find very important in coffee makers.

Various brands skip this when they build their products and the customers receive machines that can make good coffee but are terrible to clean. Without a sturdy dripping tray and consistent flow-stop system, expect more coffee splatters on the sides of the tray and the espresso cup.

This is exactly what you can avoid with the Delonghi. After the machine finishes brewing and pours coffee in a cup or mug, it will shut the tap immediately to avoid spilling and staining. I recommend this machine because of this feature.

Water Tank Capacity

Winner: De’Longhi Nespresso Vertuo

As I have mentioned, the water tank of Delonghi Nespresso Vertuo has a bigger capacity. It is 54oz and I find it big enough for 1-2 users, which I suspect is the purpose why we are looking at both models since they are pretty compact.

The Breville one has a 40oz water tank. Is it little? Yes. Is it enough for personal use? Also yes. As I have said, both models are ideal for single users or couples. If you share an apartment or studio with a friend, I would recommend both devices since they would fit so great on a narrow kitchen stand.

To avoid spilling and leaking, I recommend that you don´t fill the tank to its maximum capacity, even though it is said that the tanks can store 54 or 40oz of water.

Heat-up Time

Winner: Breville Nespresso Vertuo

We all know that it is not fun waiting for any type of electronic device to start up, including coffee machines. Luckily, both models feature fast heat-up that takes only under 25 seconds.

As for the Breville, it is an absolute winner in this aspect since it simply needs 15s to prep the machine´s temperature. For users with a busy lifestyle, I think it is wise to adopt this device.

Breville Nespresso Vertuo only needs 15s to heat up

As for the Delonghi, it takes 25s to heat up, so it is a tad slower than the previous model. Nevertheless, I don´t think it is a major minus point for this model, given that it is not that big of a difference and it performs better in brewing.

Espresso extraction

Winner: De’Longhi Nespresso Vertuo

Another major point for Delonghi. This model pulls perfect espresso shots time after time and you won´t have to sip down watery coffee with a sour tinge.

After testing the heat-up performance of both machines, I find Breville Nespresso Vertuo more troublesome since the temperature of the coffee doesn´t come out as hot as I would prefer. I have investigated and it seems that some users go through the same problem as well.

But I want to emphasize that not every machine in this line has the same issue nor is it something unfixable. To avoid lukewarm coffee, preheat the machine beforehand or warm the cup before brewing. This will help you achieve the ideal coffee temperature if you purchase any machine with such issue, not just with this model only.
