There is a debate going on between Jura E8 vs Philips 3200 since these espresso makers belong o very distinctive price ranges. But if you want to know which machine has it all and is worth buying, Philips 3200 is the one.
The winner Philips 3200 is an affordable espresso machine with a standard steam wand milk system. It has been delivering nuanced and robust coffee for me while frothing high-quality airy milk foam. The overall performance is impressive, especially for such a cut-price machine. I highly recommend this model for both first-timer and experienced users.
Jura E8 is a formidable opponent, thanks to its many one-touch recipes and excellent espresso quality. I’m mostly impressed by its cleaning cycles which are very convenient for maintaining the device in good shape. However, its price tag might be too much for many users. That’s why I go with Philips 3200.

Jura E8 vs Philips 3200: Differences
Philips 3200 wins 3-2 against Jura E8 thanks to its well-rounded features and excellent performance in making espresso. I enjoy the one-touch Americano feature of this model the most. It is quick, easy, and as tasty as I expected it to be. You shouldn’t miss out on this cut-price espresso maker.
Coffee flavor: Philips 3200
+Grinder
Firstly, Philips 3200 and Jura E8 use ceramic burr grinders to grind fresh coffee beans. If you aren’t familiar with the design, a ceramic burr grinder simply is one of the most stable options for grinding beans, thanks to its durability and smooth operation. The diagonal shape of its design makes sure that there is as little coffee ground left as possible, and this feature helps avoid jamming and breakage.
I have tested their performances, and I’m satisfied with what I got so far. The ground quality that Philips 3200 and Jura E8 can deliver is similar: even and smooth.
Secondly, these models offer various grind levels. With Philips 3200, we get 12 settings. With Jura E8, we have 6. How do the settings affect the final taste of an espresso shot?
The higher the grinder level is, the finer the ground and the stronger the flavor. Thanks to the 12 settings, you can get a very specific taste from the types of beans that you use.
+Dosing + tamping

Since both are super-automatic machines, they can handle the dosing and tamping without extra manual intervention from users. In short, these devices keep the bean-to-cup standard high.
Also, it’s possible to adjust the coffee strength with each machine. Since both are good at making robust cups already, I suggest not setting the coffee strength too high if you can’t handle an overwhelming cup of strong caffeine.
+Heating system
Philips 3200 and Jura E8 use a single Thermoblock as their fundamental heating system. I have been able to brew cups after cups at an ideal temperature, which is hot enough to enjoy with ease but not too hot that it will burn you from the first sip.
Nevertheless, despite sharing the same Thermoblock technology, Philips 3200 is more efficient at keeping the water temperature high for consecutive brewing sessions, while Jura E8 struggles after the second brew. If you brew frequently each day, I believe 3200 is the product line for you.
Milk System: Tie
While Jura E8 is equipped with an internal milk system that needs the assistance of an external carafe or milk container, Philips 3200 uses a classic Panarello wand to froth milk.
Here is the catch: if you prefer an automatic model that does all the frothing for you, Jura E8 is the better pick. But, if you want a milk system that offers more control over the final quality, Philips 3200 is the better deal.
Many users have experienced lousy steam wands, including me. Luckily, Philips 3200 does fall on the list of bad milk systems. The device is able to bring milk to a foamy and airy texture, which we love in cappuccinos and lattes.
As for Jura E8, it offers less control over the final texture since the machine handles the major part of the milk frothing process. But the final result is impressive: airy and dry microfoam. But, if you are looking for steamed milk with a creamy texture, it is harder to achieve with such an automatic device.
Utilities: Jura E8

I’m impressed by the list of one-touch beverages that Jura E8 has. And this machine wins this round thanks to its ability to make milk-based beverages easily. I’m talking about cappuccinos, macchiatos, latte macchiatos, flat whites, etc. among other drinks that don’t include milk.
As for Philips 3200, I have to handle the milk part manually and decide the texture of the milk depending on my knowledge about the recipes. This is not hard for me since I’m an ex-barista. But for beginners, this will take some learning effort.
However, if you are a fan of americano like me, this model can brew it with a touch of a button. Americano is not on the list of one-touch beverages that Jura E8 can craft.
Cleaning & Maintain: Tie
There are various cleaning cycles for each model, the difference is that the Jura E8 doesn’t have a removable brew group, so the cleaning depends entirely on the internal system. I find it quite convenient if the machine works well, but the risk of not being able to clean it thoroughly and affecting the final taste is there.
With Philips 3200, I use the rinse cycle daily to keep the brew path clean. Each week I remove the brew group for a more profound washing session. It’s not hard to keep up with the cleaning schedule once you get used to it.
Design & Material: Philips 3200
Since both models have the same water tank capacity, but E8 is much bulkier, I prefer the design of Philips 3200. This machine has a convenient and sleek touchscreen as well, and it works smoothly for me, so I don’t have anything to complain about it.
Material-wise, Jura E8 is made mainly of stainless steel and then plastic. So it has a sturdy feel to it. As for Philips 3200, most of the machine is made of plastic and then stainless steel, which is more lightweight.
For its price, I think the design and materials of Philips 3200 are a great deal, especially when it can make espressos that impress.

Jura E8 vs Philips 3200: Similarities
There are 2 similar and convenient features to these models that I want to highlight: the compatibility with preground coffee and the standard water reservoir size. You can check them out below.
Can brew with preground coffee
If you don’t have freshly roasted beans in hand, but you have preground coffee instead, Philips 3200 and Jura E8 can work with it to deliver you an aromatic and tasty cup of coffee or espresso, depending on the recipe that you choose. Basically, these devices manage preground coffee the same way they do with freshly ground beans. So the quality is assured.
Water tank capacity
This pair is equipped with a water tank that can hold around 60oz of water. From my perspective, the size is ideal for couples or small families that brew 2-3 servings per day.
It’s true that the capacity is not the most impressive, but in exchange, the frontal water tank of Philips 3200 and the side tank of Jura E8 make it not too hectic to refill.

I am a passionate coffee drinker. Since I left my job as a barista a few years back in 2012, I’ve been sharing my expertise on coffee and buying the best coffee equipment online. That’s how Wild Boar Coffee came to life.
I write about everything coffee-related under the sun. Where to buy the freshest coffee beans from? How to test coffee beans based on texture, aroma, and acidity?
I know all this from scratch – all thanks to my years and years of experience as a barista. So I’ve gotten real up-close-and-personal with coffee beans and different brewing techniques.
