Breville Nespresso Vertuo Next wins 3 to 1 against its fellow Delonghi. Even though both machines have similar designs and they brew divine coffees, I find the operation of the Breville model to be more stable and durable. Find out why below.

Heating system
Since these are capsule machines, you can expect the heating system to work very fast. Both make use of a single boiler and a 37 oz water tank to brew coffee grounds in capsules. It takes around 25 seconds for the machine to heat water, and you will get an espresso shot or double espresso in 60 seconds.
Taste-wise, I have nothing to complain about. Both machines brew rich and aromatic coffee, which makes going to Starbuck and spending hundreds of dollars in the long run not worthwhile.
The thing is Breville Vertuo Next functions much more stably. Even though it does make a bit of noise when brewing, I never find any fault with it. On the contrary, the Delonghi started leaking 3 weeks after I got it, and I found coffee in the used capsules container. Capsules aren’t exactly cheap so I was very upset that the machine was wasting my coffee.
After some investigations, it seems that this is a common problem of this product line of Delonghi. Nevertheless, many other customers ẹnoy pulling espresso shots from this device without any problem. So, I guess you will have to weigh this issue for yourselves.
Brewing technique
These machines boast of the CENTRIFUSION™ technology with evenly running water through the coffee grounds to extract all the notes of flavor and aroma. After testing it, I can tell you that the instruction doesn’t lie. I’m satisfied with the milk foam that this machine can deliver. It definitely can help us make cappuccinos.
Cleaning & Maintain: Breville Nespresso Vertuo Next
Cleaning Breville Nespresso Vertuo Next is easier simply because it doesn’t leak. The capsules are spun dry before being deposited in the container, so I never make a mess when I clear it out.
On the contrary, cleaning the Delonghi hasn’t been fun for me. It leaks all over the place on my kitchen stand, including in the used capsules container. I will have to ask for a new machine soon.
Design & Material: tie
Compact and lightweight are the most suitable word to describe the design of these machines. In this aspect, there is no winner since they look technically the same.
What I like about the material is that the body of both machines is made of over 50% of recycled plastic. I know plastic is not the fanciest material out there for espresso machines, but if you are an eco-conscious consumer, I believe you will want to get these machines. Besides, these are incredibly affordable as well.
