Are you trying to decide between the Delonghi EC702 vs ECP3620? Both are fantastic espresso machines at a low cost. But there is only 1 ultimate winner: Delonghi EC702.

The EC702 features a large 44-ounce water tank and an adjustable steam wand with a separate thermostat. The cup warming tray also adds a nice touch to this baby. I can tell you that this machine is worth the extra bucks.

The runner-up ECP3620 features a 37-ounce water tank with an easy-to-use steam wand. This coffee maker is ideal for first-timers since the design is truly simplified. If you don’t want to invest much in an espresso machine, I believe this one will be a good enough option.

Delonghi EC702 vs ECP3620: Differences

EC702 beats ECP3620 by 2 to 1 when it comes to additional functionalities. With a good coffee extraction, cup warming tray, and double thermostats, ECP3620 doesn’t stand a chance against EC702. Taste-wise, both machines do a great job, especially for this low price range.

Warming Tray

The Delonghi EC702 is the more expensive espresso maker between the two. What really qualifies the EC702 as the top competitor is its stainless steel exterior and large warming tray. The tray allows you to keep two full full-sized mugs on top of the machine to warm up.

I don’t know if you know but warming your espresso cups before extraction improves the flavor of the coffee. It also allows you to keep the espresso hot for longer at optimal drinking temperature while you steam the milk or clean up after brewing.

Separate thermostats for Water and Steam

EC702 is equipped with thermostats that you may not think of now as important, but they really do boost the brewing time of the machine. Making it easier for new users to brew delicious lattes and cappuccinos with a budget-friendly espresso maker. This coffee maker compels you to learn more about espresso with its polished and sophisticated design.

With one exclusive thermostat for steaming and one for water, you can achieve the ideal temperature when frothing milk to create a thick and creamy texture.

Delonghi ECP3620 has a more straightforward wand. If you are easy-going with your milk foam and prefer a quick frothing process, this coffee maker will satisfy your basic needs.

Price

If you’re not ready to invest in a relatively expensive espresso maker yet, you can always find your bearings with the Delonghi ECP3620. It is cheaper than EC702 and adds a few sophisticated and advanced features that make it unique. Like the programmed cappuccino system with optimal temperature controls and fast delivery.

For its low price, Delonghi ECP3620 leaves a good impression. It’s compact, lightweight, and portable. You can take it with you on vacation, to the office, or elsewhere. The espresso comes out rich, delicious, and crema-infused every time.

However, if you are willing to spend a tad more money, I still recommend EC702. The overall functionality is much better and more convenient. This is the type of coffee machine that can accompany users for a longer period of time.

Final Verdict

It’s clear now that buying the EC702 is a great investment because it has better returns. With the ECP3620, you can expect basic features and good coffee. It does not offer intricate customizations the way other more expensive espresso makers do.

I can think of no reason why the ECP3620 is a bad choice for a beginner-friendly espresso machine. It’s just the when I think of the EC702, I think that it’s more suited to someone who already knows how espresso machines work. And so is ready to invest a higher amount for better coffee results and long-lasting performance. What do you think?
