When you compare the Breville Oracle Touch vs Miele 6350, you’re pitting a top-tier semi-automatic machine against a bean-to-cup model. And without beating around the bush, the Oracle Touch comes out as the overall winner in this matchup.

The Breville Oracle Touch, while a semi-automatic machine, pretty much handles everything for you – grinding, tamping, dosing, and even steaming. Your part is simply to move the portafilter from the grind outlet to the group head and then mix your espresso with the milk froth. Trust me, you’ll be amazed at how much free time you get with this one!

The Miele 6350 is a super-automatic machine, so it’s no surprise that you hardly have to do anything. I love that it allows adjusting the duration of the pre-infusion process and brewing great espresso with Miele’s exclusive Aromatic System. Additionally, it provides 4 user profiles for folks to save their personalized settings.

Breville Oracle Touch Vs Miele 6350: Differences

The Oracle Touch beat the Miele 6350 with a score of 3-2. Now jump right into a detailed comparison between them!

Coffee Flavor & Brewing System

Winner: Breville Oracle Touch

Built-in Grinder

These machines have a built-in stainless steel conical burr grinder, which is a good sign as you don’t need to spend extra money on a standalone grinder. But when it comes to grind settings, they are chalk and cheese.

The Oracle Touch has a whopping 45 grind size settings, and switching between them is a piece of cake. Just twist a dial on the left side of the machine, and you’re good to go. Having many options is great, and the Oracle Touch really delivers on that front.

On the flip side, the Miele 6350 has only 5 adjustment levels tucked away behind the right panel of the machine, so make sure you’ve got some space to pop it open.

The Breville Oracle Touch is a semi-automatic machine. You might think it’d require more elbow grease from your side, but guess what? It doesn’t. This one comes with an automatic grinding and tamping station that does all the things for you, and it’s incredibly mess-free. All you need to do is transfer its 58mm portafilter from the tamping station right over to the brew head.

Heating System

The Oracle Touch has two boilers, so this one can brew espresso and steam milk at once and has awesome thermal stability, as it’s not always readjusting its temperature. Meanwhile, the Miele 6350 has a single boiler to deal with both tasks, meaning you’ll have to hang tight for a second while the machine switches gears between brewing and steaming.

Brewing System

As always, I’m glad that both are equipped with a pre-infusion function. It involves dampening the coffee grounds before the machine begins to push the water all the way through at maximum pressure (and yep, they both boast a 15-bar pump!).

With the Miele 6350, you’re able to tweak the pre-infusion time, making it longer or shorter, just how you like it. However, the Oracle Touch doesn’t offer this playtime with pre-infusion, which is kind of disappointing because experimenting with your brew can be half the fun.

The Miele 6350 also has what Miele calls an “Aromatic System,” meaning the brew chamber actually expands when water is added to allow proper mixing of coffee grounds and water. Miele says this little move amps up the coffee’s aroma, hence the name. After tasting a heavenly shot from this machine, I’m inclined to believe it really works rather than just a trick.

Design & Convenience

Dimensions & User Interface

Dimensions14.7 x 15.4 x 17.9 inches14.3 x 10 x 16.8 inches
Weight37 lbs29 lbs

The Miele 6350 isn’t exactly bulky, but you still should think carefully about where to place it for a few reasons. The water tank is quite long and located on the left, stretching almost as deep as the machine itself – this could make refilling the water tank a bit tricky if you’ve got kitchen cabinets. You also need to leave some wiggle room on the right side to open the side panel to adjust the grind settings.

The Oracle Touch is bulkier and heavier, but interestingly, that doesn’t pose a major problem. It has a nifty wheel system, so you can easily glide it out right in front of your kitchen cabinets and fill its water tank from the top. Kudos to Breville for thinking this through!

Spout Type & Cup Clearance

Spout TypeDualDual
Cup Clearance4 inches2.9–5.2 inches

The Miele 6350 sports a height-adjustable spout, so you can lower the spout right down to your espresso cup to keep that precious crema intact. And if you need to fill a travel mug, just raise the spout up and then you get plenty of room for most sizes.

As for the Oracle Touch, I think you can easily fit your cups under its portafilter most of the time. And if you find yourself needing more headroom, just pop out the drip tray, and you’ve got all the headroom you need for larger cups or mugs.

Water Reservoir & Bean Hopper

Water Reservoir2.5 liter1.8 liter
Bean Hopper0.3 kilogram0.3 kilogram

The Oracle Touch really shines in several aspects here. Its water tank can hold more water and can be refilled more easily. It can be paired with a water filter to ensure better-tasting coffee, and there is also a front-facing window that allows for easier monitoring of the remaining water.

Milk Frothing System

Winner: Breville Oracle Touch

The Miele CM6350 sticks with a Cappuccinatore automatic frothing system, compared to an automatic steam wand on the Oracle Touch. Whatever it is, these machines are designed to help you make a cappuccino or espresso macchiato with barely any effort from your side.

The Miele CM6350’s frothing system includes a stand-alone stainless steel carafe that hooks up to the main dispenser via a plastic tube. I prefer that the container be insulated to keep the milk cool for a long time. But personally, I’m more into designs where the carafe is snugly attached right to the front of the machine, kind of like what Delonghi does.

The milk foam that comes from the Miele CM6350 hits around 128°F, and you can’t tweak that temperature. This is okay, but let’s be real: a lot of folks like their milk a bit on the hotter side, like around 140–150°F.

On the other hand, the Oracle Touch’s automatic wand indeed gets some brownie points from me. To use it, just pour milk into the jug, place it on the drip tray, and make sure the wand is all the way down. Then, you get to pick your milk temperature, anywhere from 104°F to a toasty 167°F, and choose from nine different levels of milk texture.

That way, the Oracle Touch can automatically create the perfect microfoam for latte art, minus the barista skills. Oh yes, don’t forget, you’ll still need some of those skills to actually make the art. And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can switch to manual mode by lifting the steaming wand and showing off your milk texturing talents.

Neither the Oracle Touch nor the Miele 6350 bombard you with over 20 specialty coffee drink options, but at least there are a couple of pre-set options for you to choose from, including hot milk and hot water.

Also, you’re not confined to just those available options. For example, you can get a cortado with the Miele 6350 by pulling an espresso shot, then choosing the milk froth setting, and stopping it whenever you’ve got the perfect mix.

What’s more, both have a hot water outlet, so you can easily whip up a hot chocolate or brew your favorite tea, all without the hassle of milk residue getting in the way.

Programmability

Adjustable SettingsBreville Oracle TouchMiele 6350
Coffee StrengthNoYes
Coffee TemperatureYesYes
Milk Foam TemperatureYesNo
Milk Foam TextureYesNo

Both are highly customizable, allowing you to change several parameters for the perfect drink. More or less, it’s good to always have room to experiment.

With the Miele 6350, you’ve got control over coffee strength, brewing temperature, shot volume, milk quantity, and even pre-infusion time. Milk temperature isn’t adjustable, and you’re limited to two textures – hot milk (which is smooth) and milk froth (which is super foamy), which is pretty standard for most super-automatic machines.

As for the Breville Oracle Touch, you can change the extraction time, drink size, water temperature, milk’s temperature and texture. If you want to change the coffee dosage, it involves adjusting the tamping fan height, which is a bit more hands-on and less straightforward compared to other Breville machines.

Other Features

Winner: Miele 6350

User Profile

The Miele 6350 allows you to store your own coffee concoctions in one of four user profiles, making it quite ideal for coffee-loving groups. Meanwhile, the Oracle Touch enables you to save up to eight creations. Features like these are lifesavers in preventing those all-too-familiar squabbles that begin with, “Who messed with my settings for the perfect cappuccino?!”

Removable Brew Group

The Miele 6350 has a removable bre group for deep cleaning, while the Oracle Touch relies on an automatic cycle to clean its built-in one. If you ask me, I prefer having a removable brew group because I want to see firsthand how clean it is, not to mention that replacing it is very simple.

Bypass Doser

The Miele 6350 features a bypass doser conveniently located at the top and near the front, letting you skip the grinder and use pre-ground coffee instead. This is especially handy for those occasional decaf cravings.

However, from my experience, getting great results with pre-ground coffee can be challenging. One issue is that the ground coffee often gets clogged in the bypass doser due to the machine’s high humidity levels. Plus, pre-ground coffee is typically either too fine or too coarse for a super-automatic espresso machine, which can affect the quality of your brew.

If you want to use pre-ground coffee with the Oracle Touch, you will need to purchase separate “amateur” dual-wall filter baskets since it only comes out of the box with two single-wall baskets.

Auto On

The Oracle Touch can be scheduled to automatically turn on and heat up. You can take advantage of this to have the machine already heated when you roll out of bed and stroll into the kitchen. That way, it indeed saves you some precious minutes.
