The Jura C60 vs C65 are tough competitors to evaluate and determine the winner among them. The truth of the matter is that they both have more similarities than distinctions. And yet, I’ve determined a winner based on ease of use, value for money, and overall performance and durability.

That winner is the Jura C65 as it is the more affordable and feature-rich pick. The controls of which are fast, intuitive, and very responsive. While the shot quality on both machines is impressive and consistent, the Jura C65 offers a sturdier design.

For a simple and extravagant setup, the Jura C60 features superior espresso extraction with intricate customizations for coffee strength and temperature. And it features an aesthetically-pleasing design that’ll look good on any counter.

Jura C60 vs C65: Differences

The features of the Jura C60 vs C65 are almost identical. But the Jura C65 offers a quieter, easier, and stronger espresso maker in comparison to the C60 which is a user-friendly and rich espresso machine.

Both offer one-touch drinks with various customizations for coffee strength and aroma. And yet, I think that the C65 is a great choice for its intuitive brewing performance. That is why it wins against the Jura C60 (3 – 2) as an entry-level coffee maker for coffee snobs!

1. Espresso Flavor

The Winner: It’s A Tie!

Jura C60 Espresso Flavor

The Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System, the Thermoblock heating system, and adjustable grind level make both the Jura C60 and C65 a fine choice. They both also offer the same range of adjustments for coffee strength, aroma, temperature, and texture.

That is why, despite what I’m about to tell you, it’s a tie between the Jura C60 and C65 with regards to extracting rich and consistent espresso flavour.

Coffee Grinder

The Jura C60 features the same steel conical burr grinder as the C65. They both also have the same number of grind levels to offer to the user. But in contrast, the C65 utilizes the Aroma+ grinder.

The Aroma+ grinder offers better control over the fineness of the beans, producing a more nuanced flavour of espresso in every shot.

So on those levels, the Jura C65’s grinding mechanism is better than the C60. It’s also faster because according to Jura’s reports, coffee grinders using Aroma+ technology are almost 2x as fast as standard conical burr grinders.

I would also give the C65 more credit on account of its silent grinding and brewing performance. It ranks higher than the Jura C60 with regard to its noise level for a home brewer.

2. Milk System / Steam Wand

The Winner: It’s A Tie

The steam wand on both espresso machines can make thick and creamy foam cappuccinos and lattes. But, the Fine Foam Frother on the Jura C65 has a unique adjustment feature that is not present in the Jura C60.

You can increase or decrease the intensity of the foam based on your personal preferences. There is no milk density/temperature adjustment on the Jura C60. You’re supposed to place the cup directly underneath the milk spout, and it is cup height adjustable, and the machine will automatically heat and steam the milk for every drink.

The Jura C65 offers some customization which is good for coffee purists and enthusiasts. So if you love experimenting with different textures, the steam wand of the Jura C65 is for you.

Once again, though, it’s a tie between the Jura C60 vs C65 because both feature fine foam technology. The blending power (the ability to produce the creamiest foam for milk drinks) of most Jura machines is impeccable.

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: Jura C65

The Jura C65 has a higher rating for its upkeep and cleaning features. This also includes the build quality of the Jura C60 which is slightly weaker than the C65.

Build Quality

I’m talking about the plastic hinges that are not as sturdy or durable for heavy-duty use. It is the plastic casing also on the side of the Jura C60 that heats up fast so it’s a minor inconvenience.

The water reservoir’s lid and the bean hopper lid are made up of plastic hinges. They are prone to cracking or breaking so be very gentle when handling them. Replacement of said parts is possible but they cost $15-$20 per part.

Cleaning Time

Though the Jura C60 comes with cleaning indicators, it demands more than the Jura C65 for long-term use. The Jura products which include the water filter and cleaning tablets are very expensive. But keeping it clean is a task and it might take 25-30 seconds more of your time before brewing a cup. Thankfully, the Jura has self-cleaning functions in place.

Moving on to the Jura C65, you have to clean the machine once every 200 cups. The cleaning cycle is fast, takes 20 minutes for proper internal cleaning with the cleaning tablet. And 30 minutes for descaling which you have to do after 200 cups. There are indicators for that as well. It cleans itself automatically before and after use.

Jura C60 vs C65: Similarities

Both Jura machines share more features than you think. You have the CLEARYL water filter, 15 bar pump system, Energy Save mode, Thermoblock heating, and the rotary switch for quick and straightforward access.

The coffee spout is also height-adjustable from 2.6 to 4.4 inches on both machines. Though this is not tall enough to fit a travel mug, it’s still a compelling and adequate feature.

The units also come with a by-pass doser for pre-ground coffee. It is through the by-pass doser that you can insert the cleaning tablet for a quick cleaning as well. You set the dosing strength, grind levels, and temperature settings for coffee on both machines which is also a huge bonus.

Thermoblock ensures smooth and quick heat-up time. Though it’s not as fast as a dual boiler, generally speaking, the Jura C60 and C65 offer premium espresso which compensates for the heating up time.
