Jura C60 vs E6: Differences

The Jura C60 and E6 differ mostly in 2 features –programmability and ease of use. That is why buying the Jura E6 is a better choice for beginners and coffee snobs alike! It wins against the Jura C60 2 – 0.

1. Taste of Espresso

The Winner: Jura E6

There are 2 things about the Jura E6 that make it a better pick for a nuanced coffee flavour.

Coffee Specialties

The Jura C60 and the E6 are both exceptionally good choices. But the E6 offers more coffee drinks than the C60. And as a result, a more nuanced flavour of espresso for drinking all kinds of drinks.

The Jura C60 offers 4 coffee specialities while the Jura E6 offers 6. Both machines offer similar levels of customization, the ability to program the flavour of espresso just right.

With the Jura C60, you can program the strength, temperature, and volume of coffee. Everything is one-touch so the brewing happens fast and effectively.

The E6, on the other hand, includes 2 of Jura’s premium features – the Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma system (also present in the C60) and the PEP technology. The latter benefit is not available in the Jura C60.

The PEP smoothly and evenly extracts a richer and denser flavour of espresso – all with the customizations you select before brewing. The flavour naturally improves as the PEP technology pulls the bold aroma of espresso in every cup.

Coffee Strength

Another way in which the Jura E6 makes a better competitor than the C60 is that the E6 offers 8 levels of adjustable coffee strength while the C60 offers only 4 levels, which is its half.

Both feature the same number of temperature settings with adjustable volume from 1 to 2 cups of espresso at a time.

The single Thermoblock boiler ensures a smooth and consistent extraction of coffee. Both machines do not lose temperature and stay proactive no matter how many cups you brew in a day.

Pre-Ground Coffee

The drawback to the Jura E6 is that it doesn’t come with a slot for pre-ground coffee – a bypass doser. So you cannot brew anything else but put coffee beans in its spacious 280g bean hopper with an integrated built-in burr grinder.

The Jura C60 does come with a pre-ground coffee slot, making it easier and faster to make an espresso shot for decaf or any interesting/experimental coffee flavour!

2. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: Jura E6

Control Panel

The Jura C60 features a rotary switch that takes care of the espresso and siphon milk system. You can adjust the temperature, volume, and strength of coffee using the rotary switch. So it can get a bit confusing for newbies to figure it out.

The Jura E6 sorts this mess out with its display and buttons control panel. Everything that you need to know is right in front of your eyes. Programmable settings, coffee drinks, size of milk foam, etc.

The buttons are sturdy and organized in such a way that you know exactly what to press and what’s going on. No guesswork is allowed in this arena!

In fact, the Jura E6 has a built-in on-screen guide to help you access the entire process easier. So it will walk you through the settings and what to do to get the perfect cup of espresso.

Water Filter

This makes handling and maintaining the machine quick and simple. And speaking of cleaning, both machines come with high-quality water filters to prevent frequent descaling. The CLEARYL water filter (present in both machines) boosts the lifespan of the brewer as well.

Jura C60 vs E6: Similarities

1. Milk System

With a simple click of a button, the Jura C60 and E6 produce hot milk foam for cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiato. The fine foam frother on both machines is equipped with a siphon system that sucks in milk from the tube and froths the milk inside the machine. Creating less of a mess outside for you to clean up afterwards.

The milk spout then pours steamy, hot milk into your cup directly. You can either add the milk after brewing espresso or before. Depends on your taste buds. The machine also serves hot water for Americanos and tea. In fact, you can also simply heat up milk without frothing it. It’s quick and straightforward.

2. Dose Control

With the Jura, you can brew 1 to 2 cups of espresso in a single brewing cycle. This is a great feature because it saves you time. Even if you’re the one you want to brew 2 espresso shots for, it makes coffee taste stronger, you only have to customize the coffee strength and temperature once before brewing.

3. Utilities

Build Quality

The stainless steel that makes up both the Jura C60 and E6 are fantastic. There is some plastic involved but it does not interfere with the performance and sturdiness of the machine.

The quality of other parts that make up the machine is also very high. The water tank is made of plastic but it’s quite sturdy. It feels like that of a commercial machine, the drip tray, milk spout, and exterior housing.

Automatic Shut-Off

Both machines feature auto shut-off which is an energy-efficient feature. There is no mention of auto power-on feature to save your time in getting the machine preheated. But overall, it’s a good feature to improve durability and prolong the shelf life of the machine.

The Jura C60 and E6 will shut down automatically when kept idle for a brief period of time.

Adjustable Coffee Spout

Moving on, both machines offer plenty of room below the espresso and milk spout for different mug sizes. It can fit your everyday coffee cup or an espresso cup or a slightly longer travel mug, though not your standard travel mug size, something relatively shorter.

The spouts are height-adjustable from 2.5 inches to 4.5 inches. There is an easy-to-clean drip tray that you can rest the cup on. It doesn’t wobble or feel flimsy.

However… This brings me to a common disadvantage on both machines.

Drip Tray

Both machines come with a relatively smaller drip tray. If you place a cappuccino mug on it, it does stick out a bit. So you have to be very careful about handling wider mugs.
