Coffee Flavor: Nespresso Creatista Plus
Heating system
When it comes to the heating system, both machines make use of a single boiler that brews and steams consecutively. I usually prefer machines with dual boilers since they allow us to brew and steam milk simultaneously. But since these 2 models heat up to brewing temperature quickly, in 3 seconds, I get to use the steam wand in a blink of an eye.
When I first received both models, the coffee temperature was always right. After 2 months of testing daily, I notice the Uno line has more trouble controlling the milk temperature. It doesn’t get hot enough and consequently affects the temperature of the coffee. Also, the device is a bit noisy when brewing as well.
Brewing technique
With Nespresso Creatista Plus, we can easily make flat whites, lattes, macchiatos, and cappuccinos, alongside lungo, espresso, ristretto. With the Uno model, we only have simple options like lungo, espresso, ristretto, so it requires a bit of a learning curve.
The process is relatively automatic. First, I place the milk jug with an adequate amount for each type of beverage under the steam wand. Then goes the cup for espresso. After that, I choose the drink type, and the machine brews and froths milk automatically. I don’t have to work the milk jug or anything.
Creatista Plus froths the ideal milk texture according to the recipe that we pick. Thus I find it more convenient than the Uno model.

Auto shut-off
Both Creatista Plus and Uno boast of this function. After 9 minutes without being used, they will turn themselves off automatically to save energy. Personally, I find it very important for espresso machines to include this feature. The lifespan of the products should be longer and we can be more eco-conscious as well.
LDC screen
Unlike the Nespresso Creatista Uno which makes use of buttons, Creatista Plus goes the extra mile to include an LDC screen that shows the image of each beverage. Thanks to this feature, you will get the drink that you want in the easiest and quickest way. For me, it takes only 30 seconds for a cup of latte.
Milk system: Tie
The feature I like the most about these compact espresso makers is that the temperature and texture of the milk are variable.
With the Creatista Plus, we have 8 milk texture levels and 11 temperature levels. With the Creatista Uno, we have 3 settings for temperature and 3 for texture. There is a big difference in terms of variety but overall I find the functions to be very similar.
The thing is that even though Creatista Plus has 11 levels of temperature, the maximum level is of the same heat as the Uno. And since we are looking for an at-home espresso machine for couples and homeowners, I find simplicity to be a good quality.
However, the Uno model sometimes doesn’t reach the highest milk temperature as I would prefer. After investigating other customers, I find some similar comments to what I experienced, but it doesn’t seem to be a common thing with this product line.
Cleaning & Maintain: Tie
Both machines are effortless to clean since they are designed with an auto-purge function. The steam wand automatically pushes hot steam with a bit of water through the milk path, then cleanses it. All we have to do is wipe the wand. To clean the brew path, I usually pick a cleaning capsule, which can be used the same way as a coffee capsule. So it shouldn’t be complicated.

Water tank capacity
Both models make use of a back-loaded water tank that can store up to 50 ounces of water. According to the instruction, it is better to use portable water with these devices. Personally, I find 50 ounces ideal for couples and small families. I don’t recommend them for offices since it will require more frequent refills.
Pump pressure
The bar pump pressure on both models is 19, thus we have espresso machines that can pull thick crema and extract the most delicate aroma and flavor from the capsules. I can guarantee that the taste is phenomenal. I tested with some shots and there is a bitter tinge that lingers after I sip down the espresso. If you are thinking that this is a bad thing, I assure you that it is not. The bitter touch only adds to the nuanced flavor of espresso.
Since the pump pressure is already high, I don’t recommend using double-wall baskets since it will make it extremely hard for water to pass through the puck. The coffee taste will be much more bitter as well. A standard single-wall basket should work beautifully with these machines.
