Both the Nespresso Creatista Plus vs Lattissima Pro use Nespresso technology to brew coffee from pods. They sit at a higher price point compared to other Nespresso pod machines but are more affordable than many automatic espresso machines. So which one is your best bet? Let’s take a look!
Neither machine requires the purchase of a milk frother, but if you’re serious about milk texture and temperature, the Nespresso Creatista Plus is your go-to. However, the compromise here is that you need to manually pour the milk into your cup, and you won’t have the convenience of a fridge-ready carafe.
On the flip side, if milk temperature precision isn’t a top priority for you or if you prefer a more automated process for milk-based drinks, the Nespresso Lattissima Pro is an excellent choice. This machine takes care of everything, even dispensing the milk foam directly into your cup.

Nespresso Creatista Plus Vs Lattissima Pro: Differences
The Creatista Plus defeated the Lattissima Pro with a score of 3-1. In the remainder of the article, I’ll delve deeper into the specific differences between these two machines!
Coffee Flavor & Brewing System
Winner: Nespresso Creatista Plus
Heating System
The Lattissima Pro is ready to pull a shot from a capsule of your choice in just 25 seconds, while the Creatista Plus heats up and ready to go in just a fast-lighting 3 seconds. This difference is quite significant, but the Lattissima Pro’s 25 heating-up time is nothing to scoff at.
Brewing System
Both the Creatista Plus and Lattissima Pro belong to the Nespresso OriginalLine family, which means two things. On the one hand, they both use a mighty pump (19 bars) to pull delicious shots topped, of course, with velvety crema.
On the other hand, they work with a variety of pods, including third-party ones from Starbucks, Costa Coffee, or any other brand you prefer. You can get even closer to the barista standard by using pods filled with your favorite freshly ground coffee.
Design & Convenience
Winner: Nespresso Lattissima Pro
Dimensions & User Interface
Nespresso Creatista Plus | Nespresso Lattissima Pro | |
---|---|---|
Dimensions | 15.1 x 12 x 6.7 inches | 10.8 x 7.6 x 13 inches |
Weight | 11.4 lbs | 14 lbs |
I love the rounded design of the Creatista, really, and its complete stainless steel finish makes it extra sleek and elegant. Still, I don’t really love its dial-operated color display. Sure, it looks nice and seems user-friendly at first glance, but when you’re preparing several drinks, constantly scrolling through options with that dial can start to feel a bit tedious.
The Lattissima Pro features a professional-looking boxy design. It’s heftier than the Creatista Plus and many other pod-based machines, but this added weight lends it an expensive and durable feel. Its touchscreen is well-located and intuitive, with virtually no learning curve.
Spout Type & Cup Clearance
Nespresso Creatista Plus | Nespresso Lattissima Pro |
---|---|
4.5 inches | 5.5 inches |
There is a variation in their maximum cup clearance, but generally, they accommodate most espresso cups with ease. A standout feature for me is the cup raiser – it’s surprisingly useful. This nifty tray elevates smaller cups nearer to the dispenser. Why does this matter? Well, it significantly cuts down on splashing, ensuring that the beautiful crema on your espresso remains intact.
Water Reservoir & Bean Hopper
Nespresso Creatista Plus | Nespresso Lattissima Pro | |
---|---|---|
Water Reservoir | 1.5 litres | 1.3 litres |
Used Capsule Container | 12 pods | 16 pods |
Both machines have their water tanks positioned at the back. Personally, I lean towards front-loading tanks for easier access, but I must say, these tanks are a breeze to remove and refill, so no real complaints there.
The Creatista Plus boasts a larger water tank, which translates to less frequent refills, though its smaller spent pod container does require more regular emptying. Give and take, you won’t be breaking a sweat doing these jobs.
Milk Frothing System
Winner: Nespresso Creatista Plus
One feature of the Creatista Plus that absolutely blows me away is its auto milk-frothing steam wand. Seriously, all you need to do is pour your milk into the provided stainless steel jug, position it on the temperature sensor, select your desired texture and temperature, and you’ll get yourself perfectly frothed milk in mere seconds.
Now, you might be wondering if it can whip up latte art automatically. Trust me, I’d love to see a machine that can do this, but there is no one at all. Still, the Creatista Plus does a stellar job at creating milk froth that’s just right for some basic latte art. You can’t make an intricate swan, but you can definitely make a charming leaf or heart.
When you take away the jug, the wand automatically purges itself. Sure, you’ll still need to give the wand a quick wipe right after use, but this self-purging feature lowers the risk of milk residue curdling inside, meaning less scrubbing for you.
On the other hand, the Lattissima Pro boasts a fuss-free automatic frothing system. It includes a carafe that holds a generous 16 ounces of milk, and you can pop it in the fridge to keep any leftover milk fresh. It generally delivers fairly good steamed milk and froth, but the consistency doesn’t quite hit the ideal mark.
Drink Options & Programmability
Winner: Nespresso Creatista Plus
Drink Options
Nespresso Creatista Plus | Nespresso Lattissima Pro |
---|---|
Ristretto Espresso Lungo Flat white Cafe latte Cappuccino Latte macchiato | Ristretto Espresso Lungo Cappuccino Latte macchiato Milk foam |
Both offer a couple of one-tap drinks, which is great in many ways. The only thing I don’t like is that the Creatista Plus lacks a hot water function, meaning it can’t directly make an Americano – you’ll need a separate kettle to add hot water to your espresso.
Programmability
Adjustable Settings | Nespresso Creatista Plus | Nespresso Lattissima Pro |
---|---|---|
Coffee Strength | No | No |
Coffee Temperature | No | No |
Milk Foam Temperature | Yes | Yes |
Milk Foam Texture | Yes | Yes |
The Creatista Plus offers impressive customization with 11 milk temperature settings and 8 different milk textures. You can also adjust the coffee and milk volumes to your liking. It is nice to have 11 temperature levels for milk, but sadly, this level of control isn’t available for the coffee temperature, which I’d really like to have.
As for the Lattissima Pro, you can only adjust the amount of coffee and milk. You do have some control over the milk foam by turning a dial on the top of the carafe, but density settings don’t really create true microfoam. To get barista-worthy results, the Creatista Plus is still the better choice.
