Design

Design Of Gaggia Anima Prestige
Design Of Gaggia Anima Prestige

The Gaggia Anima is made up mostly of ABS Thermoplastic materials which is not stainless steel but the average plastic used in most kitchen appliances.

Is it prone to wear and tear?

Yes, which is why you need to be careful about regular maintenance. So this might add to your daily brewing experience. This means to wipe all the surfaces with a clean damp cloth. Hot water works wonders here because it dislodges milk residue and espresso splatters easily and without leaving stains behind.

The Gaggia Anima Prestige, on the other hand, is stainless steel and ABS plastic. It looks sleek and polished with a solid exterior surface. It’s strong but it requires less maintenance than the Gaggia Anima. But weekly cleaning of all the removable parts is essential. Just like with the Gaggia Animal Espresso Maker.

Milk

Milk frothers play an important role in espresso makers. And since the Gaggia Anima and Anima Prestige is not a single-serve coffee maker, you can select from two different milk frothing options to use.

In the Gaggia Anima, you have the standard steam wand which is Pannarello wand. It’s fast, effective, and sturdy. You press the steam button on the control panel and the machine will steam the milk in the jug in 20 seconds.

With the Gaggia Anima Prestige, things are a little different. Perhaps more automatic for someone who doesn’t want to use the steam wand. You add the milk in their integrated carafe and press a button for milk frothing. Based on your coffee drink, the machine will automatically froth the milk to make a cappuccino, latte, macchiato, etc.

The temperature settings on both machines are the same. However, the Anima Prestige, since it is a manual steam wand, makes the milk hotter than the Anima Prestige.

Gaggia Anima vs Anima Prestige – Best Features

Leaving the milk frother and housing material aside, the rest of the features are the same between the Anima and Anima prestige. I’m referring to the hopper capacity, water reservoir, cup height, grind settings, and boiler.

Even the size of the drip tray, low energy mode, automatic rinsing, and dreg bin is the same.

So what you’re really choosing between (for a couple hundred dollars less or more) is a stronger and sturdier construction and a separate integrated milk frother.

Having said that, this is what I truly liked (and didn’t like) about the Gaggia Anima and Anima Prestige.

Which Is Better?

The Gaggia Anima is slightly less expensive than the Anima Prestige. But it’s just as functional, efficient, and performance-driven. With the Anima Prestige, you have more automatic functionality considering the milk frother. And of course, the stainless steel body that frankly steals the show.

So before, when you didn’t know the better option already, after reading this article, I think you’ve got it. Buying a brand new espresso maker is always a challenge. Especially when you have so many options to pick from.
