If you are looking for the winner between Philips Lattego 3200 vs 4000, let me give you a quick answer: Philips Lattego 3200.

The winner Philips Lattego 3200, is a well-rounded espresso maker at an affordable price. Its espresso is balanced, smooth, and robust. But what impresses me the most is its potent milk system that froth cool milk to microfoam with ease. After all the testing sessions, the grinder is smooth, and the cleaning cycles are super useful. I highly recommend this model to any group of users.

In the case of Philips 4000, this model is indeed sleek-looking and can make hot espressos. It also boasts of an automatic cappuccino brewing session. However, these seem to be the only good points about the model since many other features make me question the design.

Philips Lattego 3200 vs 4000: Differences

Philips Lattego 3200 wins 3 -1 against Philips 4000 thanks to its overall consistent and stable brewing system and amazingly potent milk carafe. I have been using and testing 3200 for 2 months now, and I can´t stress how its functionality and small price tag impress me. You can check my verdict below.

Coffee flavor: Philips Lattego 3200

+Grinder

Despite using the same ceramic conical burr grinder, Philips Lattego 3200 and Philips 4000 work very distinctively in this aspect.

With 3200, I enjoy a quiet grinding process with smooth and even results. It also boasts of 12 settings to produce variable ground textures.

From my experience, setting the grinder at levels 6-7 is the best way to achieve a balanced and smooth cup organically. And when I want a more potent espresso shot, 8-10 are my go-to settings. Philips 3200 can extract a good range of coffee strength thanks to this grinder.

As for Philips 4000, its grinder is silent as well. However, it only has 5 grinder settings, which offer less freedom in adjusting the coffee strength in an organic way. As you already know: the finer the ground, the stronger the drink.

After checking the used pucks of 4000, I noticed that bigger chunks are mixed with the fine ground. Even though this is not a daily problem, it´s still a clear sign that the grinder isn´t very stable.

+Dosing + tamping

Since these models share many similar features due to being Philips´s products, they share the exact automatic dosing and tamping effect. Both are pretty stable in this aspect, so overall, users won´t have to intervene during the brewing process.

+Heating system

There is a slight difference in the performance of the machines here. Philips 4000 brews hotter cups despite using the same single boiler system. With Philips 3200, the drinks come out hot enough to drink right away without getting burned. For users who prefer hot drinks like me, 4000 performs slightly better at this point.

Milk System: Philips Lattego 3200

Philips 3200 with its LatteGo milk system is impossible to beat. After so many testing sessions, I still consistently get dry and airy milk texture just how I want it to be. Indeed, 3200 doesn´t have a one-touch cappuccino, but its milk foam is more than perfect for this beverage.

As for Philips 4000, it can bring the milk texture to a fluffier and more velvety level, but microfoam isn´t its specialty at all. So from my experience, this machine is suitable for flat white and at best latte.

Utilities: Philips 4000

Philips 4000 wins this round simply because it has a button for one-touch cappuccinos. Even though it´s not a life-changing feature, it´s good to have a milk-based automatic recipe around for when I´m too busy to handle the step separately myself.

Nevertheless, Philips 3200 has a one-touch Americano, which I absolutely love since this drink showcases the quality of espresso and the water to espresso proportion perfectly.

Cleaning & Maintenance: Philips Lattego 3200

Cleaning and maintenance are both easier with Philips Lattego 3200. Why?

About cleaning, this model has a bunch of alarm on its interface that tells users when to descale, when to rinse the brew path, and when to deep clean. With these cleaning alerts, it´s much easier to keep up with all the weekly maintenance.

Also, I find it very difficult to find Philips 4000 on the market since this model doesn´t seem well-received in the states. Thus, it makes it harder to maintain and use the warranty when the occasion presents itself.

Philips Lattego 3200 vs 4000: Similarities

You can check out 2 similar aspects between Philips Lattego 3200 and Philips 4000 that I find the most relevant.

Adjustable spout-height

These models come with adjustable spouts that can accommodate various cup sizes. This dispenser can avoid significant splatter, and cleaning the drip tray will be less hectic.

Ideal for couples or 1-2 users in general

Philips Lattego 3200 and Philips 4000 share the same water tank size, which is 60.85 oz. For me, this is not an impressive reservoir capacity, thus these devices are best for 1-2 users only.

If you are looking for a machine that serves an entire family or can supply coffee for a reunion in an efficient way, Philips Lattego 3200 and Philips 4000 might not be the best. But, as I said, they are perfect for 1-2 users, aka homeowners and couples.
