I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

Delonghi Dinamica Plus vs Primadonna Class is an exciting debate between 2 somewhat similar espresso machines. Which one is better? My quick answer is Delonghi Dinamica Plus.

Delonghi Dinamica Plus is a well-rounded model if you are looking for a device that can brew delicious espresso and milk-based recipes. It boasts of a 60 oz water tank, a standard size for small offices or families. I also enjoy its quick and straightforward cleaning cycles. So if you are looking for this type of super-automatic machine, I highly recommend Dinamica Plus.

As for the runner-up Delonghi Primadonna Class, it can handle espresso and milk texture like a champ. More or less, it boasts of the same functionality as the device above. However, this model is quite noisy during the entire brewing process, which I’m not fond of. You can check out how these machines work for me below.

Delonghi Dinamica Plus vs Primadonna Class: Differences

Delonghi Dinamica Plus wins 3 – 1 against Delonghi Primadonna Class. The truth is that I find the two very similar and almost equally excellent. But it’s also true that Delonghi Dinamica Plus has overall more stable extractions and cleaning cycles. What else does this machine boast of?

Coffee flavor: Tie

+Grinder

Conical steel grinder is the type of grinder that these devices share. From my experience, they work perfectly fine without causing jams or having trouble feeding beans to the grinders. In terms of noise level, Dinamica Plus is better at controlling the sound during the entire extraction process, from beans to cups.

On the other hand, Primadonna Class has been quite noisy. The grinder isn’t so bad. But the milk frothing and dispensing processes have been causing lots of noise.

Also, DeLonghi Dinamica Plus has 13 grinder settings, while Delonghi Primadonna Class has 7. With more variable ground texture settings, we can adjust the strength and the flavor of espresso more freely.

+Dosing and tamping

Given that these models are designed with super-automatic features, they will offer users a 100% hand-free experience, which means that the dosing and tamping steps are also automatic. The machines will grind, dose, and tamp a certain amount of coffee beans, depending on each recipe.

But, it’s possible to adjust it and save the changes for future extraction. Also, we can change the dose from long to short freely to adjust the drink’s strength and decide if it will e watery or dense. This aspect applies to both Delonghi Dinamica Plus and Primadonna Class.

+Heating system

Delonghi Primadonna Class has an integrated Thermoblock
Delonghi Primadonna Class has an integrated Thermoblock

Delonghi Dinamica Plus is equipped with dual boilers, while Delonghi Primadonna Class has an integrated Thermoblock. And how do they perform temperature-wise?

So far, Delonghi Dinamica Plus is more stable while Delonghi Primadonna Class brews hotter cups. Dinamica Plus can keep both the milk and the espresso temperature at perfect drinking level right out of the spout. Thanks to the cup warming tray, it can keep the heat ideal for a longer time. With Primadonna Class, we can heat the machine and get hot cups if we leave it on for a longer self-priming time.

Milk System: Delonghi Dinamica Plus

There is nothing bad to say about the milk systems of these machines since they have been working equally smoothly for me since day one. These systems are super-automatic carafes that allow users to change the milk foam texture if they want to.

After testing them, I can tell that they are best at making dry foam for beverages like cappuccinos or latte macchiato, which require lots of airy microfoam. The carafes can handle creamy milk foam as well. But it still has a slight fluffy and dry texture to it instead of being 100% creamy.

Is creamy foam your preference? It would help to consider this factor before purchasing any espresso machine with one-touch beverages.

But why Dinamica Plus wins this round? It’s because it is less picky when it comes to the milk type. While Primadonna Class works mainly with skimmed milk only, Dinamica Plus can handle alternative and traditional milk types like a champ.

Utilities: Tie

Firstly, this pair owns a diverse collection of one-touch coffees that offer users a hand-free brewing experience. Both models can brew espresso, coffee, long, doppio+, coffee pot, cappuccino, latte macchiato, cappuccino+, cappuccinomix, hot milk, caffelatte, flat white, espresso macchiato, and hot water with a touch of the screen.

I have tested all of them and the performance is very alike. Personally, I enjoy long coffee, flat white, cappuccino, and coffee pot the most. The other drinks are like similar versions of the beverages I mention, just with a slight twist in the layers or the milk texture. Overall, nothing too drastic.

Secondly, I like that Delonghi Dinamica Plus and Delonghi Primadonna Class have very standard water tank capacities. In fact, they belong to the bigger side, which tends to do well in small offices or big households. Delonghi Dinamica Plus’s tank can hold up to 60oz of water, and Delonghi Primadonna Class can store up to 67.6 oz.

Both tanks have a line that indicates the maximum water level that we should fill to avoid leaking or any other problem.

Lastly, the multiple profiles are a great touch that this pair shares. Delonghi Dinamica Plus has 3 user profiles and 1 guest profile, and Delonghi Primadonna Class has 6 user profiles with 1 guest profile. I think Primadonna Class is good for offices, while Dinamica Plus is suitable for households.

Cleaning & Maintenance: Delonghi Dinamica Plus

As for the cleaning part, I find it easier to maintain Delonghi Dinamica Plus spotless. The brew group and drip tray are dishwasher-safe. And for the brew path, the system will rinse it automatically when we start up and turn off the machine. Thanks to this function, it’s possible to keep the brew path from being stained with an old coffee smell.

There are also other deep cleaning cycles that require the companion of a cleaning solution. It’s recommendable to do it at least once a week to keep the brew path mold and bacteria-free.

When it comes to Delonghi Primadonna Class’s maintenance, it shares almost the same cleaning cycles. The difference is that after each brewing session, it will rinse parts where MILK goes through automatically instead of the entire brew path. So it is less convenient than Dinamica Plus.

Delonghi Dinamica Plus vs Primadonna Class: Similarities

If you are wondering about the similarities between Delonghi Dinamica Plus and Delonghi Primadonna Class, you can find the answer here.

Various profiles for different users, good for offices

I find the pair ideal for offices because each model has a set of profiles for various users, and each profile can save every change that we apply to each beverage without affecting the configuration of other profiles.

This feature helps a lot if the machine serves a small office or a big family with more than 2 or 3 coffee lovers.

Soft-touch interface

The interface of these devices is very sensitive and intuitive. You can enjoy the soft-touch characteristic that should respond quickly to our selections or commands. Overall, I have nothing to complain about the interface, given that both devices respond quickly.
