DeLonghi Dinamica Plus vs Jura ENA 8: Differences

The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus is a sturdy and premium-grade super-automatic espresso machine – plus app compatibility. The Jura ENA 8 is a more portable option with speedy one-touch features that you can make the most of. Based on that evaluation, the score is a tie between the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus vs Jura EN8 with 3 – 3.

1. Programmability

The Winner: DeLonghi Dinamica Plus

DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Programmability Review
DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Programmability Review

The Dinamica Plus features 16 quick, one-touch coffee drinks. These include all the classics such as latte, espresso, cappuccino, flat white, regular coffee. And it also includes speciality drinks like macchiato, cappuccino-latte mix, etc. that require a bit more work. But the Dinamica Plus gets it done effortlessly.

Better customizations are second nature to the DeLonghi! You can alter the coffee strength, grind size, the temperature of both the coffee and milk and milk foam. You can save these settings and use them every time you want a cuppa. The DeLonghi never forgets the coffees you customize and want to drink.

The Jura ENA 8, too, prepares coffee at the touch of a button. But with fewer custom drinks. Such as the cappuccino, flate white, latte, espresso doppio, macchiato, etc. It’s a compact machine that does more than its size allows. It has 10 barista-quality drinks with coffee strength, temperature, grind size, and volume programmability. Quick, intuitive, and individually tailored to your likes and dislikes.

2. Time

The Winner: Jura ENA 8

Jura Ena 8 Time
Jura Ena 8 Time

Both the Dinamica Plus and Jura use a single Thermoblock heating element. But that doesn’t mean that both machines take the same time to brew coffee.

While the Dinamica Plus is easy to customize drinks with, it even features its own app that lets you do that without actually walking up to the machine. The machine takes around 30 seconds for the espresso to start pouring.

There is a way, however, to reduce time by starting the machine by using the app. You can switch the machine on using your phone. So by the time you walk up to the machine to brew your early morning cup, the machine is heated up and ready to go!

A more complicated drink, like a cappuccino, takes the same 25-30 seconds to make.

The Jura ENA 8 uses the same single Thermoblock and pours espresso at the touch of a button. Including milk-based drinks, you have to wait for 10-15 seconds for every drink. And between two cups, there is another 10-15 seconds wait which is not a worry at all, considering that it has a Thermoblock heating element. But it’s still faster than the Dinamica Plus.

3. Interface

The Winner: DeLonghi Dinamica Plus

DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Interface

The Dinamica Plus comes with a 3.5-inch intuitive TFT display screen. It has a touch functionality so it’s responsive and easy to program.

Another one of its most intuitive features is the amazing Bluetooth-enabled app. It displays the beverages with bright images and controls buttons. You can change the grind level, coffee volume, strength, froth, temperature, aroma, etc. easily.

In fact, the app includes two settings that aren’t accessible via the touch display: the ml quantity of the espresso and the milk quantity by pouring time.

I think the functionality of the app is way better for making quick adjustments than anything I’ve ever come across. Just make sure you place a cup under the spout and you’re good to go.

Many users have complained about the Jura ENA 8 being less responsive with a narrower display – around a 2.8-inch TFT display. So the buttons take some time to get used to. And the ENA 8 does not match up to such a responsive Bluetooth app.

4. Size

The Winner: Jura ENA 8

Jura Ena 8 Size
Jura Ena 8 Size

The Dinamica Plus is the larger espresso machine between the two. So if you lack the space in your kitchen to fit a bulky espresso machine, do not buy the Dinamica Plus.

It has a much larger bean hopper of around 11.5oz and a 1.8L water tank. There is also the option to add pre-ground coffee for decaf, only one scoop for every espresso. Both the bean hopper and water tank are easy to clean and require less refilling considering their large capacity.

In the Jura ENA 8, you will get a 1L water tank and a 4.4-ounce bean hopper. It also features a pre-ground chute for decaf and pre-ground coffee. As you can see, it is 0.8L and 7.1oz smaller than the water reservoir and bean hopper of the Dinamica Plus.

But this just shows how compact and portable the Jura ENA 8 is. Its performance far exceeds its size so it’s a space-saving coffee maker that can fit under cabinets and in tight corners. It is a small super-automatic espresso machine, smaller than what people are generally used to seeing.

5. Milk Frothing

The Winner: DeLonghi Dinamica Plus

DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Milk Frothing
DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Milk Frothing

The milk spout and froth level of the Dinamica Plus are superior in every way. It comes with a thermal milk jug that allows you to store the milk in the fridge before and after use. You can detach it and use it individually which makes the coffee maker more user-friendly and convenient.

It also has auto cleaning after use, with quick temperature, milk, and foam settings. It heats up the milk to a high temperature, at 133-degrees Fahrenheit with smooth, creamy, and velvety bubbles that do more for creating latte art than you think.

You can also use plant-based and nut milk with similar results. The display will also alert you when you need to clean the milk dial, rinse the spouts, etc. There is a descaler that you have to use inside the water tank and milk frother to keep it clean and scale-free.

The Jura ENA 8 has great automatic rinsing, descaling and cleaning programs. Including the automatic milk spout rinse functionality that keeps the machine good as new.

Its Fine Foam Technology allows smooth and one-touch milk functionality. It’s also perfect for nut and plant-based milk. It’ll froth the foam smoothly while maintaining suitable temperatures.

However, some users have noted that the milk foam is not as velvety and “barista-quality” as one might expect from a Jura espresso machine. The milk spout feels flimsy and the machine doesn’t always, consistently keep the milk temperature high.

6. Water Filter

The Winner: Jura ENA 8

The cleaning features of the Jura ENA 8 are more equipped and ready-to-go than the Dinamica Plus. The Dinamica Plus features the DeLonghi descaling solution. But its maintenance features are standard, nothing extraordinarily superior.

The Jurafeatures the IWS system which is for Intelligent Water System. And it has the quick CLEARYL Smart Filter for water filtering. You can easily get rid of heavy metals in the water, limescale, and other unwanted deposits which drastically improves the flavour of espresso.

DeLonghi Dinamica Plus vs Jura ENA 8: Similarities

Both espresso makers are great for quick, unique, and customizable functionality. You can create an interesting variety of coffee drinks and milk frothing levels, replicating what you’d get in a barista!

The quick brewing technologies of both machines let you customize the coffee ration, grind size, temperature, strength, volume, and milk temp and texture easily. So if you want the opportunity to try out new flavours and adjust their strength based on the drink you choose, both the Dinamica Plus and Jura let you do that!

Right from grinding the beans based on your selections to pulling a shot and frothing the milk, these bean-to-cup espresso machines are easy, convenient, and automated to use. Automatic cleaning features such as self-rinsing, water filtration, descaling, and removable parts make things more comfortable and home-friendly as well.
