Make the best of the time you have on your hands, every morning, with an espresso maker like the Jura WE6 vs E8. But which one between these two is the right pick for you?
Based on my evaluation, and countless other customer reviews, the smart and dependable choice is the Jura E8. It will meet all your espresso needs for multiple cups a day. It has more coffee drinks with programmable settings, automatic milk frothing, a one-touch cappuccino system, and fast cleaning modes.
The Jura WE6, on the other hand, features a built-in Aroma G3 grinder, 8 customizable drink settings, and an automatic siphon cappuccino frother. It’s a great choice for espresso purists. It definitely streamlines the process of making espresso at home. And it has every feature you need to drink espresso in various sizes and strengths without wasting money on expensive barista drinks.

Jura WE6 vs E8: Differences
The Jura E8 wins 4 – 1 against the WE6 not only as of the more popular choice out there for espresso drinkers but also the most customizable, intuitive, and easy to maintain. With its simple interface, you can make a delicious espresso or a cappuccino at the press of a button. It also features a self-cleaning feature that’s missing in the WE6.
1. Espresso Flavor
The Winner: It’s A Tie!
+Coffee Grinder
The Jura WE6 comes with the Aroma G3 grinder while the Jura E8 has the steel conical burr grinder. While both are good for fast and balanced grinding, the Aroma G3 is faster, quieter, and more efficient to maintain.
At least this is what users say of the Jura E8 since it is a slightly noisier grinder for daily use.
With regards to consistency in grind size and durability, the steel conical blades are sharp and make sure they catch all the beans at a consistent and reliable speed, leaving no ground coffee inside the grinder which only increases clean-up time.
The Jura WE6 understands the problems of its predecessor – the Aroma being an earlier version of the Aroma G3. And so it fixes a lot of the problems such as noise, vibration, and consistency. Not only that but I think the Jura WE6 is overall equipped at handling back to back use without losing any time.
The Jura E8’s coffee grinder is good but it does not hold up against intense use on a day-to-day basis. The Jura WE6’s AromaG3 grinder is two times as fast and sturdy without getting the burr blades too warm or hot so as to ruin the texture of the freshly ground coffee beans.
+Programmability
Another visible difference between the Jura E8 and WE6 is their adjustable strength settings. The ‘strength’ refers to how strong you want your espresso to taste. The strength does not directly affect the default brewing process of the beans.
Both machines still make full use of the Pulse Extraction Process and 15 bar pump to pull a delicious and rich espresso shot. And Thermoblock heating ensures smooth and consistent optimal temperature control.
With strength control, you get to add an extra layer of customization to personalize the flavor and aroma of espresso. On the Jura E8, you can select from 10 strength levels that are convenient and compatible with all its specialty coffee drinks. The Jura WE6 features only 8 levels of strength customization.
Even for adjusting the brewing temperature of the espresso which alters how hot you want the espresso to be, the Jura E8 features 3 temperature settings while the WE6 features only 2.
Both offer the same hot water programmability (3 levels) for producing hot water for tea, hot chocolate, or a long black coffee.
2. Dose Control
The Winner: Jura E8
+Coffee Specialties
The best thing the Jura E8 provides that the WE6 is a few steps behind is the wide range of espresso drinks. The Jura E8 offers a total of 17 coffee drinks which includes both classic and special drinks including cappuccino, latte macchiato, flat white, and espresso drinks. The Jura WE6, on the other hand, offers only 8 drinks.
The coffee specialties that the Jura WE6 provides are good and beginner-friendly. But they’re not as versatile and one-touch as the Jura E8. Both feature the P.E.P. shot-pulling technology with Thermoblock and 15 bar pump.
But as far as selecting your coffee drinks to go, the Jura E8 is better equipped at handling more intriguing and delicious barista-level espresso drinks.
3. Cleaning & Maintenance
The Winner: Jura E8
+Capacity
The water reservoir of the Jura WE6 and the E8 differ significantly. For starters, the E8 comes with a smaller water tank that is convenient for daily use and does not even require frequent refills. It measures 1.8L of water with a water filter fitted in.
The WE6, on the other hand, can contain up to 2.9L of water which is a major upgrade from the 1.8L of the E8.
Moving on to the bean hopper size, the WE6 does feature a larger bean hopper (17.6 ounces) while the E8’s is smaller at around 9.8 ounces.
This makes the Jura E8 more user-friendly and compact to use at home. It leaves more room on your countertop for other kitchen appliances. And its capacity is not very small which means you don’t have to refill it very often.
The only thing is that with the WE6 the frequency of refilling is much less than the Jura E8. So the choice is deciding how many people you’re going to be using the espresso maker for. If it’s just you or another person, the Jura E8 is a good choice. But if it’s more than 3 people, the high capacity of the Jura WE6 won’t seem so bulky.
4. Utilities
The Winner: Jura E8
+Pre-Ground Coffee
The Jura E8 comes with a by-pass doser for brewing espresso with pre-ground coffee powder. So you don’t need coffee beans if you have a packet of pre-ground coffee in an espresso grind size.
With the Jura WE6, you can only brew espresso with coffee beans. It does not include a by-pass doser for pre-ground coffee. Buying the coffee beans is easy because most local shops ground beans fresh when you plan to buy them. This is not a problem at all. But, on the other hand, making a quick decaf blend for your late evening espresso breaks can be a problem since the WE6 does not have a by-pass doser.
+One-Touch Cappuccino System
‘One-Touch Cappuccino System’ refers to making a classic drink like a cappuccino at the press of a button. You don’t need to set the milk temperature, brewing temperature, or grind settings. The machine does it on its own. And all you have to do is watch.
Now, with the Jura WE6, you have to do the work. That is set the various coffee parameters for brewing an espresso shot. Then setting up the milk frothing system to froth the milk with the perfect cappuccino foam texture.
It does add a few hand gestures on your part but the end result is delicious and creamy!
On the Jura E8, that is not the case because it does feature a ‘One-Touch Cappuccino System’ This means you can select the cappuccino button and watch the machine do everything from grinding the beans, setting the strength, temperature, and frothing the milk with the ideal milk foam for cappuccino.
The Fine Foam Frother G2 of the E8 ensures consistent results in taste, texture, and aroma.
Jura WE6 vs E8: Similarities
1. Intuitive Control Panel
Setting up any Jura machine, especially WE6 and E8 is incredibly simple and user-friendly. It doesn’t take longer than a few seconds to heat up. The finish and weight of both machines are sturdy and solid so the machine ends up looking quite sleek and durable.
In that way, both the Jura WE6 and E8 have incredible similarities. Both are premium-quality fully automated espresso makers, better and sturdier than most machines out there.
The TFT color display (on both machines) is intuitive and responsive to use. They also have Smart Connect compatibility which means you can access all the coffee functions and keep up with the cleaning with the help of its smartphone/tablet app.
2. Brewing Control
The Jura WE6 and E8 also feature the Intelligent Water System that improves the overall performance of the brewing/temperature control. With pulse control and 15 bars of pressure, you can expect incredible results in taste, texture, and aroma.
3. Dual Spout
And yes, unlike many other home espresso makers, the Jura WE6 and E8 do allow double brewing. This means you can make 2 cups simultaneously. And even slide in a few different sizes of mugs, thanks to the adjustable cup spout starting from 2.6 inches to 4.4 inches (for the Jura WE6) and 2.5 inches to 4.3 inches (for the Jura E8).
4. Value For Money
While both machines are smart and sleek to use, they also match up to the price tag of most espresso machines. In fact, considering how easy they are easy to maintain and quick to brew, it’s a delight to make creamy cappuccinos to rich and strong espressos with just a few taps either on your mobile screen or the accessibly intricate control panel.
