The point of buying a home espresso machine, just like the Jura D6 vs E6, is so that you can make espresso quickly and at the touch of a button. While both these impressive semi-automatic machines do that, the Jura E6 has a few more tricks up its sleeve.
It is faster, with a quieter and more energy-efficient coffee grinder. You can customize more coffee drinks on the Jura E6 with its 8 strength settings. And other than the programmability, using the machine is better with its colour display.
The Jura D6 features a built-in grinder, programmable coffee strength and volume, and a fast Fine Foam frother. It gets the job done – if a quick drink made from real espresso is what you want.

Jura D6 vs E6: Differences
Jura E6 wins 2 – 0 against Jura D6. It has more customization features than the D6. And its control panel is bigger, more modern, with easy-to-read buttons and settings.
1. Taste Of Espresso
The Winner: Jura E6

Coffee Grinder
The difference here is between two different models of the same burr grinder. The Aroma G2 and Aroma G3. The Jura features the Aroma G2 grinder which is a standard model in that it grinds and produces good-tasting espresso shots on a consistent basis.
The Aroma G3, on the other hand, is quieter and produces finer and smoother grounds without wasting much. It also heats up less during back to back bean grinding. The Jura D6, with its Aroma G2 grinder, lacks that level of consistency and fineness in its grinding mechanism.
The Jura E6 has the Aroma G3 grinder which holds up to intense use. It is a silent, vibration-free, and more efficient grinder with adjustable settings. The Aroma G2 also features adjustable grind levels for fine-tuning the texture of coffee.
Adjustable Coffee Strength
This also brings me to my second notable evaluation of the shot quality of the Jura D6 vs E6. The Jura D6 offers 4 levels of coffee strength adjustments. This refers to not only the quality of espresso but its intensity, aroma, and the lastingness of its flavour.
While 4 levels might seem like a good start for any espresso enthusiast, the Jura E6’s 8 adjustable levels is a great update. It lets you choose from a more nuanced flavour of espresso for a variety of espresso-based drinks.
2. Utilities
The Winner: Jura E6

Control Panel
The Jura E6 has a higher rating considering its easy to use features. Compared with the plain digital display with text and the rotary dials of the Jura D6, handling the Jura E6’s TFT colour display and buttons are much faster and user-friendly.
The display screen on the Jura D6 is smaller too with no coffee icons or drink names or anything. This does not mean that navigating the D6 is going to be a task. Not at all. But in comparison to the E6 and its colour display, it feels a little backward or “out of date.”
The control panel and interface of the Jura E6 is a lot like a smartphone app. You can see all the drinks right in front of your eyes, exactly how they look in real life. This includes all the coffee specialities – espresso, coffee, cappuccino. And the maintenance icons for the water filter.
Bean Hopper
The last thing that I would like to point out between the Jura D6 and E6 is their bean hopper capacity. The Jura D6 comes with a slightly smaller bean hopper at 7 ounces. And the E6 is spacious and convenient for everyone – at 10 ounces.
This translates to the Jura D6 with a 200g beans capacity and the Jura E6 of a 280g beans capacity. Making the Jura D6 more compact but the Jura E6 more maintenance-free for daily use.
Jura D6 vs E6: Similarities
As for the similarities between the Jura D6 vs E6, both machines offer incredible benefits. This includes the Pulse Extraction Process combined with 2 temperature settings. The PEP is a standard Jura feature that machines like the D6 and E6 adopt to make sure that you get the best possible flavour out of espresso.
Coupled with that is the Thermoblock boiler which is one of the best heating systems for home use. It makes sure the temperature is consistent and reaches the optimal temp. in a shorter amount of time.
Next, is the multiple coffee selections in multiple sizes for espresso, coffee, and cappuccino. The Fine Foam Frother (on both machines) matches the barista-quality foam for cappuccino drinks. And you can brew a stronger dose of espresso for latte and froth the milk using the wand.
The Jura D6 and E6 feature programmable coffee strength and volume settings. They even share integrated maintenance cycles for cleaning quickly and effectively. To top that off, the 64-ounce water tank capacity, a high-quality water filter, automatic shut-off feature, and a sturdy exterior.

I am a passionate coffee drinker. Since I left my job as a barista a few years back in 2012, I’ve been sharing my expertise on coffee and buying the best coffee equipment online. That’s how Wild Boar Coffee came to life.
I write about everything coffee-related under the sun. Where to buy the freshest coffee beans from? How to test coffee beans based on texture, aroma, and acidity?
I know all this from scratch – all thanks to my years and years of experience as a barista. So I’ve gotten real up-close-and-personal with coffee beans and different brewing techniques.
