I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

You will love this Jura E6 vs ENA 8 debate because both machines come with a built-in grinder, programmable brew options, and a fast automatic frother.

If your focus is ease of use and simplicity, both espresso makers are durable and user-friendly in their unique ways. But if you’re looking for more advanced features like one-touch espresso drinks, temperature settings, and modern features like the Smart Connect app, then paying a little more for the ENA 8 is a wise choice.

But based on my evaluation, the Jura ENA 8 has intuitive and user-friendly features, even more so, than the Jura E6. The Jura E6 is good for someone who is looking for something basic and for lightweight use.

The Jura ENA 8, in comparison, is more fine-tuned for intense performance, it is fast, and its one-touch coffee functionality is most like what baristas offer.

Jura E6 vs ENA 8: Differences

The Jura ENA 8 wins against the E6 with a 4 – 1 rating. It offers the user more programmable functions, app connectivity, and a more nuanced way of brewing espresso.

1. Taste Of Espresso

The Winner: Jura ENA 8

Jura ENA 8 Taste Of Espresso

Extraction Process

The Jura E6 comes with the Pulse Extraction Process which is also available in the ENA 8. But the ENA 8 features an intelligent pre-brew aroma system which makes it faster and more suited to barista-style espresso drinks.

In the case of how strong and full-bodied you want your espresso to taste, both espresso machines are ready to brew at the touch of a button. However, when it comes to extracting an intense flavor and aroma regardless of the type of coffee beans you use, then the Jura ENA 8 is better equipped at matching your personal taste.

Being the less expensive one, the Jura E6 does have a bit of a disadvantage in consistency. When you brew a double espresso shot, the default settings on the E6 is weaker.

It doubles the volume of a single shot which could, most likely, make the espresso a bit too watery to taste. So for real smooth espresso, the ENA 8 is great.

For the rest of it, the Thermoblock heating, heat-up time, and loads more, both the Jura E6 and ENA 8 are fantastic choices.

Coffee Drinks

Between the Jura E6 and ENA 8, the E6 has 6 different coffee drinks to offer at the touch of a button. The ENA 8, on the other hand, offers 10 coffee selections.

The ENA 8 has Espresso Doppio, Latte Macchiato, and Flat White which the E6 does not have. Meanwhile, both espresso makers make Espresso, Cappuccino, and Coffee quickly and efficiently.

This applies to the espresso extraction process as well as the milk frothing. You can experiment with different foam qualities with the ENA 8 on account of its one-touch and versatile coffee drinks menu.

2. Dose Control

The Winner: It’s A Tie!

Programmability

Adjusting the strength, temperature, and volume of coffee per cup is a delight. And for finicky espresso drinkers, like me, it’s easier to do it when you have more options to work with. Because every espresso drinker’s personal taste is unique and it keeps changing ALL OF THE TIME!

That is why the programmability that the Jura ENA 8 is more fine-tuned than the Jura E6. Though there is not a ginormous difference the ENA 8 does work like an updated model.

Starting with coffee strength adjustments, on the E6 you have 8 levels of intensity. For brewing temperature, you have 2 levels and there is no mention of hot water temperature settings which the ENA 8 does have.

On the ENA 8, you can pick from 10 coffee intensity levels and 3 brewing temperature levels along with 3 levels of hot water temperature.

Both machines offer a programmable coffee volume feature which I love.

Dosage

How much espresso should go in a single shot? You can work your way through different quantities in a manual espresso system. But the beauty of automatic machines is that they give you the right dosage amount.

Between the Jura E6 and ENA 8, the E6 has the perfect dosage quantity, in keeping with the professional standard. The Jura E6 produces 5 to 16 grams of ground coffee into the portafilter to maximize flavor and aroma.

The Jura ENA 8, unfortunately, does only 6 to 10 grams of ground coffee. Meanwhile, both feature the Aroma G3 Steel Conical Burr Grinder which is a barista-favourite.

Coffee Spout

Another reason to love the Jura E6 is that it features dual coffee spouts for brewing 2 espresso shots side-by-side without wasting more time. On the ENA 8, you have a single coffee spout which is single-serve. So you can make only one espresso at a time which is kind of a bummer!

Pre-Ground Coffee

The E6 does not come with a by-pass doser for pre-ground coffee. The ENA 8 does and that improves how accessible that makes a home espresso maker is. It also includes a scoop that you can use to add ground coffee without confusing the dosage amount.

You can apply all the customizations and brewing variables for ground coffee in the ENA 8.

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: Jura ENA 8

Capacity

How narrow or spacious are the coffee maker’s water tank and bean hopper makes a huge difference in maintenance. And the Jura E6 takes a considerable amount of space on the counter.

It features a 1.8L water tank and a 9.8-ounce bean hopper. The water tank is large which means you don’t have to refill as often. The same applies to the bean hopper which is conveniently big.

But in comparison to the ENA 8, which has a 1L water reservoir and 4.4-ounce bean hopper, the E6 feels bulky.

The benefit of the ENA 8 is that it is built for the home espresso drinker. It’s not too big which means you can move it around without worrying about anything spilling over or breaking.

The only downside to a capacity this small is that you have to refill the water tank more often. And add the coffee beans only when it’s time to brew coffee to keep it fresh.

Even the coffee grounds container of the E6 can hold up to 16 used coffee pucks. While the ENA 8 holds 10.

4. Utilities

The Winner: Jura ENA 8

Smart App Connect

You can link up the Jura ENA 8 with Jura’s special coffee app to brew coffee at the touch of a tap, on your smartphone. The app features a modern and sleek and intuitive interface that lets you control all the coffee customizations with your phone.

The Jura E6 features no such connectivity. But its control panel is just as simple and fast and responsive to use.

Just the ability to control your home espresso maker with your phone makes the ENA 8 a tempting choice.

Cup Clearance

The Jura ENA 8 features a higher cup clearance than the E6. The Jura E6’s spout can be adjusted from 2.5 to 4.5 inches. And the ENA 8’s is from 2.2 to 5.4 inches.

Add 1.1 inches more to the coffee spout adjustment is a huge deal for those of you who prefer to drink their coffee in larger mugs. Perhaps you’re brewing espresso for iced coffee and you want the espresso to pour directly into your glass filled with ice cubes.

Doing this is more realistic with the ENA 8 with the taller cup spout height.

Jura E6 vs ENA 8: Similarities

If you want a great automatic espresso machine, the Jura E6 and ENA 8 are fine choices. And that is because they share a few features despite their many differences. These include design similarities, faster heating time, convenient and quiet burr grinder, and other such automated features that are ideal for home bean-to-cup makers, be it for a beginner or an experienced espresso drinker.

Both feature the same size dimensions – 11 x 13.8 x 17.3 inches. Both are compact and fit in smaller kitchen spaces. They both have Thermoblock heating systems which is an efficient choice for home espresso makers. It’s fast, consistent, and does not overheat the machine.

For grinding coffee beans, the Aroma G3 coffee grinder is quieter and faster. It also reduces less ground wastage which means the blades are less likely to clog or overheat even after excessive use.

Both espresso makers allow quick coffee customizations according to your personal taste. In terms of strength and temperature and volume, the interface of both machines has pre-set variables so they show level instead of numbers which may be confusing for some beginners.

Both machines also use Jura’s impressive water filter and cleaning solutions. This reduces the maintenance cost and ensures smooth and efficient operation for a long, long time.  It also includes self-rinsing cycles for daily maintenance and a low-energy mode with auto shut-off.
