Jura E6 vs S8: Find Your New Favorite Customizable Home Espresso Machine For Lattes, Cappuccinos & Other Delicious Coffee Drinks

This article concludes, once and for all, why the Jura S8 is a stronger competitor than the E6 in this Jura E6 vs S8 debate. The S8 is more suited for espresso drinkers who like to have espresso in different ways. This includes espresso and milk-based espresso drinks including lattes, cappuccinos, macchiato, flat white, etc.

The Jura S8 lets you do all this at the touch of a button. And it features a powerful milk frothing system with manual texture control, so it imitates the functionality of the steam wand but without you having to use a steam wand.

The Jura E6 is a fine choice but it lacks some of that fine-tuning that S8 allows. It’s basic and good for classic espresso drinks including Americano and Cappuccino. And the milk frother is automatic in that you cannot control the texture of the milk.

Jura E6 vs S8: Differences

The Jura S8 is the better performer when compared to the E6. It wins 3 – 0 with a touchscreen display, more adjustable settings, and an impressive number of coffee drinks to choose from.

1. Taste Of Espresso

The Winner: Jura S8

Coffee Specialties

The Jura E6 and S8 have a built-in grinder and the Pulse Extraction Process which I love. But what the E6 does not have is S8’s high number of coffee drinks. So the E6 offers 6 coffee drinks – espresso, cappuccino, and coffee options (single or double for each). But the S8 offers 15 drinks which include the barista favorites such as macchiato, café latte, flat white, and latte macchiato.

While the E6 is good for people who love espresso and would like to drink a basic but delicious drink like cappuccino or a black coffee, the S8 is good for those who love a wider range of coffee drinks at their disposal.

In matters of food or drink, more is always better, right? And brewing a drink like a latte macchiato at the touch of a button is possible only with a machine like the S8.

In the E6, for example, you might have to make it manually based on your personal layering/texturing recipe.

Coffee Strength

Aside from this, the Jura E6 also features fewer intensity levels than the S8. Where the E6 offers 8 levels, the S8 offers 10 levels.

So for coffee beverages like the latte macchiato, flat white, etc. the higher number of intensity levels ensure smooth and optimal espresso extraction.

Temperature Controls

Speaking of programmability, the E6 features 2 levels of temperature control while the S8 features 3 levels. In both machines, both are one-touch programmable temperature and strength for quick and easy control.

All the important variables are pre-programmed to make it easier to navigate.

2. Milk System

The Winner: Jura S8

While both espresso makers feature the Fine Foam technology for automatic milk texturing, you do have a bit more control in the S8 than the E6.

Starting with where the milk spout is placed on both machines. The E6 has the milk spout right next to the coffee spouts. But on the S8, the milk spout is on the right side of the machine, allowing more room and space for taller mugs and wide cups.

The S8 also features the Fine Foam Frother G2 which is faster and more programmable. You can manually texture the milk as per your personal taste. While the automated settings produce the best milk foam for a latte, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and flat white. You can transition the milk frother to manual if you want a bit less or more froth in your coffee.

This is not present in the E6. The Jura E6 produces creamy and hot milk and milk foam for the classic cappuccino coffee.

3. Utilities

The Winner: Jura S8

Interface

The interface of the Jura E6 features a TFT color display with buttons. It’s a bright display with all the coffee icons laid out right in front of you. You don’t have to refer to the instruction manual to understand any symbol or number. It’s perfectly user-friendly and accessible, day or night.

The Jura S8, on the other hand, features a 4.3-inch touchscreen color display – so no buttons like the E6. It’s an even higher resolution screen with programmable icons that you need to tap the screen to access. Everything from programming the coffee volume, strength, and temperature is possible via a tap of the finger!

That’s better not only because it streamlines navigation but also because it makes the espresso machine look more modern and sleek on the countertop.

By-Pass Doser

A by-pass doser lets you add pre-ground coffee in a separate slot in the coffee machine. So when you don’t have coffee beans to work with, you can always use pre-ground coffee to brew espresso in just the same way.

The E6 does not feature a pre-ground coffee feature but the S8 does.

The adjustable coffee strength levels of the S8 also work with the pre-ground coffee. So you can use any brand of ground coffee and the espresso tastes just as delicious and nuanced.

Smart Connect App

This is a great feature to have in any home espresso machine. Although, when you compare the E6 to the S8, the S8 is more expensive and it features a Smart Connect app. This means you can download Jura’s coffee app and make your drinks via the phone.

Everything from adjusting the coffee volume to selecting the coffee drink you want, you can do it using just your phone or tablet with the app.

The E6 is not compatible with any Smart Connect app which means you can operate the machine using the machine’s interface only.

Jura E6 vs S8: Similarities

The similarities between the Jura E6 and S8 are fair. They both share a coffee grinder, P.E.P. extraction system, Thermoblock heating system, 15 bar pump pressure, siphon milk frother, and cleaning functions.

Even with regards to size and weight, both machines do not have any notable differences that might make one better than the other. Apart from all the main differences we talked about, the E6 features the exact same speed, functionality, and consistency as the S8.

Obviously, there’s a serious price difference between the two but now you know why. The E6 and S8 deliver rich and strong and delicious espresso-based on certain customizations that you can make quickly. And the milk frothing system delivers piping hot milk which means you do not have to pre-heat the milk before frothing it.

These Jura machines also feature the same two-cup coffee output feature. This means you can brew 1-2 cups of espresso in a single brewing cycle.
